SSEJ Projects FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS Depending on donor's generosity, we provide food for the most desperate members of the community. This program aims at alleviating the most severe malnutrition cases.
Our community center and work compounds are the focal point of activities for the 9,000 Jews in Gondar. Activities and facilities on these premises include; an elementary school, adult education, emergency food distributions, health awareness programs, a mikvah, a synagogue, a feeding program, work programs, religious services, and other activities to strengthen the community.
Guided by prominent medical personnel we sponsor surveys to asses the condition of the community. Findings include, over 96% of the population live below the international poverty line designated by the World Bank. Severe malnutrition is rampant. Results of these surveys are used to focus and improve services.
Our employment programs are providing the community the resources to become more self sufficient. Helping the community help itself, we employ heads of families enabling them to support their households. We give out hundreds of pairs of shoes to shoeless children to prevent common foot disfigurements; hundreds of articles of clothing; and thousands of bars of soap for preventative health care. We train and supply educational materials for teachers. At the request of the community we have provided a torah scrolls, mizzuzot, thousands of sets of tallesim; tephilin; shabbat candles; and have run shabbat feeding and educational programs.
We provide religious and educational programs in Israel, including organizing and funding the efforts of hundreds of Israeli volunteers who conduct programs on Shabbat and holiday in aborption centers.
Our international efforts include public awareness campaigns
as well as advocacy in Israel and the U.S. DONATIONS: $110- Feed a child for 1 year. If you would like to sponsor any of the religious programs such as,
shabbat candles, tefilin, or tallis program please let
us know
